First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looks at how nomophobia (fear of being without a phone) affects anxiety and academic confidence in university students who have text neck (neck pain from looking down at phones). Researchers will survey 396 students aged 18-35 who use smartphones at least 3 hours daily. The goal is to understand the connection between physical symptoms and mental well-being, which is often overlooked in treatment.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this study could highlight the need to include mental health support in treating text neck, leading to more holistic care for students.

What could go wrong

This is an observational survey, not a treatment trial. It cannot prove cause and effect, and results may not apply beyond this specific student group.
