This study tested whether a special conversation guide and decision-support tool in electronic health records could help adults manage pain and improve physical function after surgery without relying on drugs. Over 81,000 adults having surgery at participating hospitals took part. The goal was to see if this approach reduces pain, anxiety, and opioid use while boosting recovery.
