New scanner aims to pinpoint the exact disc causing your back pain

Summary
This study tests a software tool called NOCISCAN that uses MR spectroscopy to help doctors tell which spinal discs are causing pain and which are not. About 300 adults aged 18 to 70 who are already planning back surgery will take part. The goal is to see if using NOCISCAN leads to better pain relief after surgery compared to standard care.
