First seen Dec 26, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study looked at a protein called NLRP6 in the blood of 50 adults with chronic gum disease (periodontitis) who were otherwise healthy. Researchers measured NLRP6 levels and checked how they relate to gum health. The goal was to learn more about the role of NLRP6 in gum disease, not to test a treatment.
