First seen May 17, 2026 ยท Last updated May 17, 2026
Summary
This study looked at how a specific inflammation marker (NLRP3) relates to different stages of gum disease and aging. Researchers measured this marker in fluid from the gums of 80 adults with and without gum disease. The goal was to better understand the role of inflammation in gum disease progression, not to test a treatment.
