Laughing gas tested for pain relief in lab study

NCT ID NCT01581450

Summary

This study aimed to understand if a low dose of nitrous oxide (laughing gas) could reduce heightened pain sensitivity in healthy people. Researchers used a controlled electrical stimulation model on the skin to create and measure pain in 20 male volunteers. The goal was to gather basic knowledge about how the gas affects pain signals, not to treat a medical condition.
