First seen Jan 16, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study tested a special stapler during a surgery that combines two procedures: wrapping the top of the stomach to stop acid reflux (Nissen) and removing part of the stomach for weight loss (sleeve). The goal was to see if this combined surgery reduces acid reflux in people with obesity. 167 patients took part, and the main result was how many still had reflux 24 months after surgery.
