New monitor could save preterm babies by tracking belly oxygen
NCT ID NCT05278247
First seen Jan 10, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 15 times
Summary
This study tests a new device that uses light to measure oxygen levels in the belly area of preterm infants. Preterm babies are at risk for life-threatening conditions that lower tissue oxygen, and current monitors are not accurate on the abdomen. The study will enroll 50 stable preterm infants to see if the new device is safe and provides reliable oxygen readings.
