New scanner could help doctors predict amputation recovery

NCT ID NCT02551484

Summary

This study tested a special light scanner (NIRS) to see if it could better predict how well a leg stump heals after amputation. It involved 62 people who had a below-the-knee amputation due to poor circulation. Researchers compared the new scanner to the current standard method to see which was more accurate at forecasting healing problems.
