New drug could protect unborn babies from dangerous bleeding disorder

NCT ID NCT06533098

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether a drug called nipocalimab can prevent severe bleeding in unborn babies at risk of FNAIT, a condition where the mother's immune system attacks the baby's platelets. About 50 pregnant women with a history of FNAIT will receive either nipocalimab or standard IVIG treatment. The goal is to see if nipocalimab better protects the baby from death, severe bleeding, or very low platelet counts.
