New lupus drug trial aims to tame rogue immune system

Summary
This study is testing whether an experimental drug called nipocalimab can better control moderate to severe lupus compared to a placebo. It will involve 600 adults with active lupus over 52 weeks. The main goal is to see if the drug reduces overall disease activity while allowing patients to lower their steroid doses.
