Nighttime breathing strategy tested to help COPD patients off ventilators
NCT ID NCT01573481
Summary
This study tested two different settings on breathing machines used at night to help patients with severe COPD come off ventilator support. Researchers wanted to see if one method helped patients breathe on their own faster and improved their sleep quality during the weaning process. The trial involved 19 hospitalized patients in France who were stable but needed help transitioning off the ventilator.
