New study explores safe early discharge for Low-Risk moms and babies
NCT ID NCT05438004
First seen May 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 02, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tested a new care pathway that allows low-risk mothers and their newborns to leave the hospital as early as 2 hours after a normal delivery, instead of the typical 4-day stay. 100 mother-baby pairs were enrolled and received daily home visits from a midwife for the first 3 days, plus a mobile app to stay connected with the hospital. The goal was to see if this approach could meet safety recommendations while giving families more choice.
