First seen Jan 22, 2026 · Last updated Apr 26, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study tests a new approach to manage severe jaundice in newborns, which can cause brain damage if not treated. The method uses a simple breath test to detect red blood cell breakdown. Researchers will compare this new approach to standard care in 250 full-term infants to see if it reduces the risk of brain injury by age one.
