Tiny lungs, big hope: new machine setting aims to protect premature babies

NCT ID NCT07377955

Summary

This study is testing if a newer setting on a specialized breathing machine (called HFOV-VG) is better than the standard setting (HFOV) for very premature babies with severe breathing problems. The goal is to see if the newer method can reduce the risk of babies developing serious, lasting lung disease or dying before they leave the hospital. Researchers will compare the two methods in about 348 infants born before 32 weeks.
