Breakthrough pill tested to stop yeast infections from coming back
NCT ID NCT03561701
First seen Feb 17, 2026 · Last updated Apr 12, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study tested whether a new oral medication called oteseconazole could safely prevent recurrent yeast infections in women. Over 400 women who typically had at least three infections a year were randomly assigned to take either the new drug or a placebo pill for 12 weeks, then followed for nearly a year to see if infections returned. The main goal was to see if the medication could significantly reduce the number of women experiencing another painful infection during that time.
