New scan could spot hidden thyroid cancer better

NCT ID NCT06961084

Summary

This study is testing whether a new type of PET scan using a radioactive tracer called I-124 can find thyroid cancer that has spread (metastasized) more accurately than the current standard scans (I-123 or I-131). Researchers will compare the new scan results to the standard ones in 62 adults who have had thyroid cancer surgery. The goal is to see if the new scan provides a clearer picture to help guide treatment.
