Blood protein could help doctors pinpoint cause of breathing crisis

NCT ID NCT07338227

Summary

This study tested whether measuring a protein called CC16 in the blood could help doctors quickly tell if a patient's lung fluid buildup is caused by heart failure or by a direct lung injury. It involved 100 critically ill adults who were on breathing machines in the intensive care unit. The goal was to see if this test could provide a clearer answer faster than current methods.
