Smoke test could make lung surgery safer

NCT ID NCT05971719

First seen Mar 21, 2026 · Last updated May 05, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study tests a new method to find air leaks in the lungs during surgery. Doctors will use a visible glycerine smoke that flows out of any leak, making it easier to spot. The goal is to see if this smoke method works better than the current standard test. About 200 people having lung transplant surgery will take part.
