Personalized cancer test could match patients to best drugs
NCT ID NCT07171554
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study is testing a new diagnostic test called µCAN that takes a small sample of a patient's tumor and grows it in the lab. The test then screens many drugs to see which ones kill the cancer cells best. The goal is to help doctors choose the right treatment for each person with metastatic colorectal cancer. The study will enroll 75 patients in Norway and Sweden to see if the test can produce a useful report within 8 weeks.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
µCAN drug screen test (diagnostic test using patient-derived tumoroids)
What this could lead to
If successful, this test could help doctors choose the most effective drugs for each patient with metastatic colorectal cancer, potentially improving treatment outcomes and reducing side effects.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage study with only 75 participants, focused on whether the test can produce a usable report, not yet on whether it improves survival. The test may not work for all patients or may not lead to better outcomes.
