First seen Dec 29, 2025 · Last updated Apr 22, 2026 · Updated 15 times
Summary
This study aimed to create a faster, simpler diagnostic test for tuberculous meningitis (TBM), a severe and often fatal brain infection in children. Researchers analyzed small samples of blood and spinal fluid from 332 children to identify key biological markers of the disease. The goal was to build a prototype point-of-care test that could provide quick results in clinics with limited resources, helping doctors start life-saving treatment sooner.
