Breakthrough transplant offers hope for blood disorder cure without harsh chemo

NCT ID NCT06743477

Summary

This study is testing a new type of stem cell transplant called 'hypertransplantation' that aims to cure severe thalassemia, a serious inherited blood disorder. The new approach skips the usual harsh chemotherapy and radiation before transplant, which could eliminate many dangerous side effects and complications. Researchers are enrolling children aged 7-12 with severe thalassemia to see if this method is safe and effective.
