New scan aims to spot hidden inflammation before it causes irreversible damage in scleroderma

NCT ID NCT07212959

Summary

This study tested a new type of PET/CT scan to detect early inflammatory activity in people with systemic sclerosis (scleroderma). The goal was to see if this scan could find inflammation before it causes permanent scarring (fibrosis) in organs like the lungs. Researchers enrolled 12 patients with early-stage scleroderma to see if this imaging method was more effective than standard CT scans at spotting active disease.
