Summary

This study tested a new pneumonia vaccine called V116 in adults aged 18-64 who have a higher risk of getting sick from pneumococcal bacteria, such as those with diabetes, heart, lung, or kidney disease. Researchers compared V116 to a combination of two existing vaccines to see if it was just as safe and if it triggered a strong immune response against 21 different strains of the bacteria. The goal was to see if this new vaccine could offer broader protection for at-risk adults.
