Healing protein plug aims to fix painful anal tracts

NCT ID NCT06632418

Summary

This study is testing a new collagen plug soaked in a manufactured healing protein (rhPDGF-BB) to see if it can help close complex anal fistulas better than current standard treatments. It involves 12 people with fistulas not suitable for simple surgery, comparing the new plug to routine care. The main goal is to check if the procedure is safe and feasible, while also seeing if it improves healing and reduces recurrence over 6 months.
