New PET tracer could spare head and neck cancer patients unnecessary biopsies

NCT ID NCT07217028

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This early-phase study tests a new radioactive tracer called [18F]NOTA-ABY030, which is designed to make head and neck squamous cell carcinoma show up more clearly on PET/CT scans. About 25 adults with suspicious or unclear findings on standard scans will receive the tracer and undergo imaging. The main goal is to check safety, but researchers also want to see if this method improves cancer detection and reduces the need for invasive biopsies.
