New scan could replace risky brain test for Cushing's patients

NCT ID NCT07108244

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study tests if a special PET-MRI scan can accurately find tiny pituitary tumors causing Cushing's disease, potentially replacing the current invasive test (IPSS) that requires threading a catheter from the groin to the brain. Researchers will compare the scan's accuracy to the standard test in 43 adults with confirmed Cushing's. If successful, this could lead to a safer, more comfortable diagnosis.
