Doctors test gentler way to place breathing tubes while patients are awake

NCT ID NCT06065475

Summary

This study tested a new method to numb the throat for patients who need a breathing tube placed while they are awake before surgery. Researchers compared a new ultrasound-guided nerve block injection against the standard spray method in 60 patients. The goal was to see if the new block reduced coughing and discomfort and was safe and easy for doctors to perform.
