Scientists use inhaled gas to see inside damaged lungs

NCT ID NCT04855305

Summary

This study aimed to improve a special type of MRI scan that uses inhaled xenon gas to create detailed pictures of the lungs. Researchers tested the scan on 46 people, including healthy volunteers and those with interstitial lung disease (ILD), to see if it could reliably detect changes in lung function. The goal was to develop a better, non-invasive way to monitor how lung diseases progress or respond to treatment.
