Smoke test could spot dangerous lung leaks during surgery

NCT ID NCT05971719

Summary

This study is testing a new system that uses glycerine smoke to find air leaks in lungs during surgery. Air leaks are common complications after lung operations that can lead to longer hospital stays. The system creates visible smoke that flows through any leaks, helping surgeons spot them quickly. Researchers will compare this new method against the current standard technique to see if it works better and faster.
