NCT ID NCT05858853

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 12, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study tested whether a lab-made version of a blood protein (recombinant human serum albumin) works as well as the standard version from human donors for people with advanced liver cirrhosis and fluid buildup in the abdomen (ascites). It involved 92 adult patients who received the lab-made protein or the standard treatment to see which was better at raising protein levels in the blood and reducing fluid. The goal was to see if this new treatment could help control the complications of liver disease.
