New eye shot aims to slow blinding eye disease

Summary
This study is testing a new investigational eye injection called BI 771716 against an already approved treatment, pegcetacoplan, for people with geographic atrophy. Geographic atrophy is an advanced form of age-related macular degeneration that causes progressive, permanent vision loss. The goal is to see if the new injection can slow the growth of the damaged area in the eye as well as or better than the current treatment.
