New disc implant aims to replace neck fusion surgery

Summary
This study is testing whether a new artificial disc implant called the Synergy Disc is as safe and effective as traditional spinal fusion surgery for treating chronic neck pain from degenerative disc disease. The trial involves 175 adults with pain at only one neck level who haven't improved with non-surgical treatments. Researchers will compare the new implant's results to historical data from fusion surgery patients over two years of follow-up.
