Scientists test triple punch to reboot immune system against stubborn cancers

NCT ID NCT03474497

Summary

This study is testing a new combination treatment for people with advanced lung cancer, melanoma, kidney cancer, or head and neck cancer that has stopped responding to standard immunotherapy. The treatment involves three parts: a targeted radiation dose to one tumor, injections of an immune-stimulating drug into that same tumor, and continued standard immunotherapy. The main goal is to see if this approach can restart the body's immune system to attack cancer elsewhere in the body and is safe for patients.
