Breakthrough blood test could spot dangerous virus earlier in vulnerable transplant patients

NCT ID NCT07181330

Summary

This study tested a new blood test designed to detect cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection in people who have received a stem cell transplant. Researchers looked back at stored blood samples from 60 transplant patients to see if the new test, which looks for a specific viral marker, works better than the current standard test. The goal is to find infections earlier and more accurately to help doctors start treatment sooner.
