Could a simple oxygen check prevent dangerous bowel surgery leaks?
NCT ID NCT07467980
Summary
This study is testing a new method to measure oxygen levels in the tissue where two ends of the bowel are surgically reconnected. Researchers want to see if low oxygen readings can predict healing problems like leaks or narrowing. The study will observe 80 patients during their standard colon or rectal surgery, using a special camera that measures oxygen without needing dye injections.
