Breath test could replace radioactive method for blood disorder diagnosis
NCT ID NCT03008642
Summary
This study tested a new, non-invasive breath test to measure total red blood cell volume in people with suspected polycythemia. The goal was to see if this simpler method works as well as the current standard test, which uses a radioactive tracer and is not widely available. Researchers compared the two methods in 60 adult patients to validate the new approach.
