New birth control shot could last for months

NCT ID NCT04143659

Summary

This is an early study testing a new long-acting injectable birth control called Levonorgestrel Butanoate (LB). Researchers are enrolling about 136 healthy women to find the safest and most effective dose and injection method (into the muscle or under the skin). The main goal is to see how long the drug stays in the body and how well it prevents ovulation, with follow-up lasting about nine months.
