Faster, better test for deadly fungus in vulnerable cancer patients

NCT ID NCT03349931

Summary

This study tested a new blood test kit designed to detect a dangerous fungal infection called invasive aspergillosis in patients with blood cancers. The test also checks if the fungus is resistant to common antifungal drugs. Researchers enrolled 350 adult patients at high risk for this infection to see how accurate the new test was compared to standard methods.
