New antibiotic combo battles tough kidney infections in hospital trial

Summary
This study tested whether a new antibiotic combination (cefepime-zidebactam) works as well as a standard antibiotic (meropenem) for treating serious urinary tract or kidney infections that require hospitalization. About 530 adults with these infections received one of the two treatments for 7-10 days while in the hospital. Researchers compared how well each treatment cleared the infection and resolved symptoms, while also monitoring for side effects.
