New drug aims to rival common surgical sleep agent

NCT ID NCT05478174

Summary

This study tested if a new drug called HSK3486 works as well as the standard drug propofol for putting adults to sleep before elective surgery. 400 adults having planned surgery were randomly assigned to receive either the new drug or propofol in a blinded study. The main goal was to see if the new drug was just as good at successfully inducing anesthesia without needing extra rescue medications.
