Summary

This completed study tested whether a lab-made version of a blood protein (recombinant human serum albumin) works as well as the standard version from human donors for patients with liver cirrhosis and fluid buildup in the abdomen (ascites). It involved 390 adults and directly compared the two treatments to see which was better at raising protein levels in the blood and reducing abdominal fluid. The goal was to see if the lab-made option could be a safe and effective alternative to manage this serious complication.
