Zapping AFib: new balloon device enters human testing

NCT ID NCT06828939

Summary

This is the first human study to test the safety and effectiveness of a new balloon device that uses pulsed electric fields to treat atrial fibrillation (AFib). The device aims to isolate the heart's pulmonary veins, which are often the source of AFib episodes. The study will enroll 75 people with short-duration, symptomatic AFib who haven't had a previous ablation and will follow them for one year after the procedure.
