Brainwave training may help stroke survivors see again

NCT ID NCT07237412

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether a brain-training technique called neurofeedback can improve vision in people who have lost part of their visual field due to a stroke. Participants will learn to increase communication between brain regions using EEG feedback. The goal is to expand the visual field and improve contrast sensitivity. The trial is small, with only 14 participants, and is in an early stage.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

EEG neurofeedback training

What this could lead to

If it works, this could point toward a non-invasive therapy to improve vision in people with permanent visual field loss after a stroke.

What could go wrong

This is a very small early study with only 14 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The treatment requires long sessions and may not produce meaningful vision improvement.
