Cuddle pillows cut newborn pain during blood tests

NCT ID NCT07462884

Summary

This study tested if a simple 'nesting' technique could ease pain for newborns during routine heel prick blood tests. Researchers compared 59 healthy newborns: one group was gently held in a soft nest of pillows before, during, and after the procedure, while the other group received standard care. The results showed that the newborns in the nest had significantly lower pain scores, cried less, and had more stable heart and breathing rates.
