First seen Mar 13, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study tested whether placing full-term newborns in a soft pillow nest for 3 minutes before, during, and after a routine heel prick blood test reduces their pain. 59 healthy babies were split into two groups: one nested, one not. Researchers measured pain using a standard scale and found that the nesting technique helped lower pain responses.
