New nerve surgery aims to stop chronic pain before it starts after breast cancer

NCT ID NCT06580951

Summary

This study is testing if a small, additional nerve-protecting procedure done during standard mastectomy and reconstruction can prevent long-term nerve pain. About 200 women scheduled for this surgery will be randomly assigned to receive either the new procedure or the standard surgery alone. Researchers will track pain levels and quality of life for a year to see if the nerve-protecting step makes a difference.
