New nerve stimulation could ease back pain without muscle damage
NCT ID NCT05952518
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 23, 2026 · Updated 22 times
Summary
This study compares two treatments for back pain caused by facet joints. The standard treatment, radiofrequency ablation, burns nerves to stop pain but can damage spinal muscles. The new approach, peripheral nerve stimulation, uses mild electrical pulses to block pain without harming muscles. Researchers will measure pain relief and muscle function in 70 adults aged 18-80 to see which option works better.
