Zap your ankle, ease your cramps? new study tests nerve stimulation for period pain

NCT ID NCT07352982

Summary

This study is testing whether a gentle electrical stimulation applied to a nerve near the ankle can help reduce painful menstrual cramps (primary dysmenorrhea). Researchers will enroll 32 women to see if this non-drug treatment lowers pain intensity and improves quality of life. The idea is that stimulating this nerve may help calm the overactive signals causing cramps in the pelvis.
