Zap your back pain? new study tests electric needles as safer alternative

NCT ID NCT07273006

Summary

This study is testing a technique called Percutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (PENS) as a safer way to diagnose and treat chronic low back pain thought to come from the facet joints in the spine. It aims to provide pain relief without the risks of the anesthetic injections used in standard nerve blocks. The study will involve 82 adults with long-term back pain to see if PENS works as well as traditional blocks for pain control and is safer.
